34-10 Channel of Exploration – Human Design
The Human Design 34-10 Channel of Exploration is deep creative energy anchored into self-love and self-belief.
In your Human Design Chart, your channels represent how life force flows through you. It is significant to your chemistry, your charm, your essence that communicates with the world.
Channels sit within three circuits (individual, collective and tribal), further highlighting different values, principles, emotional needs and core beliefs that come with each channel/circuit.
Each of your defined channels characterisies a specific theme, function or gift that is consistent and reliable within you. If this channel isn’t defined/activated it doesn’t mean that you don’t have access to it, it just means that it shows up in various ways and in it’s own timing.

What is the 34-10 Channel of Exploration?
The 34/10 Channel of Exploration according to Traditional Human Design is ‘a design of following one’s convictions’. It is a very self-centred energy that is here to do what it loves and fully trust in it. It shows the world what is possible if everyone lived in their uniqueness without resistance.
It is the combined energy of Human Design Gate 34: The Gate of Power and Human Design Gate 10: The Gate of Behaviour of Self and Self-Love.
- Gate 34 is all about harnessing power for the good of humanity and inspiring others through it’s individuality. It looks to Gate 10 for support to follow its convictions.
- Gate 10 is all about is all about loving who you are and being an example of deep self-love. It looks to Gate 34 for support in harnessing its power.
The Channel of Exploration is also categorised as a Generated Channel this simply means that the channel is connected to the sacral and expressing the energy located here follows the same strategy as our Generator energy types – ‘to wait to respond’. What does this mean? That you need to trust and allow your body to respond in the now. To stay alert and respond when you feel that sacral nudge.
How do you know if the Channel of Exploration 34/10 is activated in your Human Design Chart?
The Channel of Power 34/10 is activated through Gate 34 located in the Sacral and Gate 10 located in the Identity Centre (G-Centre).
It is part of the Individual (Centering Sub-Circuit) Circuit, meaning those who have it activated are here to be different and unique in order to bring change into the world. As it sits in the Centering Sub-Circuit it is an example of energy that is integrated and centred in the Self. It initiates and empowers others though it’s own practices, learnings, teachings and experiences. It shows others how to live in the world and take the opportunities that it offers.
High Expression of 34-10 Channel of Exploration
In it’s highest expression the 34/10 Channel of Exploration shows up as:
- Doing what you love in life and trusting in it
- An example of deep self-belief and self-love that invokes inner strength in others
- Self mastery and centeredness
- Exploring and perfecting the personal behaviours needed to survive in society
Challenges of 34-10 Channel of Exploration
Challenges that you may face with the activated 34/10 Channel of Exploration include:
- Feeling guilty for being independent and self-centred even when it is healthy for you
- Others questioning your behaviour
- Trusting you will be in the right place at the right time
- Frustration that others don’t know how to ‘behave’
How does unconscious or conscious definition affect channels?
When channels are defined (coloured) they provide consistent, reliable communication between the two energy centres they connect in your chart.
- When channels are conscious (coloured black in traditional charts and orange if downloaded from this website), you are likely aware of how this energy plays out in your everyday life.
- When channels are unconscious (coloured red in traditional charts and purple if downloaded from this website), you may not have realised they were there unless pointed out by others. Or you may have thought that everyone felt that way.
If you have both colours it simply means that you have a mix of conscious and unconscious energy. And you may not have realised the full breadth of potential available to you or been able to articulate the gift within.
Reflective Questions for 34-10 Channel of Exploration
If you have the Channel of Exploration defined reflect on the following questions:
- Do you shy away from the Channel of Exploration energy?
- Do you hold onto or get weighed down by others opinions and pressures? What do you need in order to let go of these and embrace your personal power, your desires, your needs?
- What personal behaviours do you need to explore and perfect in order to thrive while staying true to yourself?
- What does self-mastery mean to you? Where are you in your journey to self-mastery?
- How do you balance your desires for living life your way without feeling guilty for who you are?
- Where you taught to hide this energy as a child? Or that it was bad? (Consider the circuitry themes that played out in your childhood relationships)
- Where your taught to embrace this energy as a child? How does it show up for you today?
- Are you using this energy to it’s full capacity? If not, what will you do differently?
Remember to have the Channel of Exploration activated in your Human Design Chart, both Gate 34 and Gate 10 must be defined.
If you only have one of these gates activated, it is called a hanging gate and you will likely find you naturally attract those who have the other Gate defined – also called the Harmonising Gate. Be sure to go check out each of these gates for further details on how their energies play out.
Lastly, if one of the gates of the defined channel sits in your Incarnation Cross you will find your life purpose is naturally generating energy all of the time. You are not waiting for the energy of the stars or others for your Cross to function or power up – the light is always on!
