The Human Design 14-2 Channel of The Beat is a powerful ‘way shower’ for others. It brings resources, energy and commitment to see and sustain a vision through.
In your Human Design Chart, your channels represent how life force flows through you. It is significant to your chemistry, your charm, your essence that communicates with the world.
Channels sit within three circuits (individual, collective and tribal), further highlighting different values, principles, emotional needs and core beliefs that come with each channel/circuit.

What is the 14-2 Channel of The Beat?
The 14/2 Channel of The Beat according to Traditional Human Design is ‘a design of being a keeper of keys’. It is powerful energy that can make things happen. It has an in-built mission in life that will unfold naturally when you trust in life.
It is the combined energy of Human Design Gate 14: The Gate of Power Skills and Creation and Human Design Gate 2: The Gate of Higher Knowing and Allowing.
- Gate 14 is all about following your dreams, doing the work you love and creating true prosperity. It looks to Gate 2 for a reliable sense of direction.
- Gate 2 is all about being receptive to the abundance of life and having a reliable sense of direction and vision. It looks to Gate 14 for support in generating resources and prosperity and getting you where you want to go.
The Channel of The Beat is also categorised as a Generated Channel this simply means that the channel is connected to the sacral and expressing the energy located here follows the same strategy as our Generator energy types – ‘to wait to respond’. What does this mean? That you need to trust and allow your body to respond in the now. To stay alert and respond when you feel that sacral nudge.
How do you know if the Channel of The Beat 14/2 is activated in your Human Design Chart?
The Channel of The Beat 14/2 is activated through Gate 14 located in Sacral and Gate 2 located in the G-Centre (Identity Centre).
It is part of the Individual (Knowing Sub-Circuit) Circuit, meaning those who have it activated are here to be different and unique in order to bring change into the world. As it sits in the Knowing Sub-Circuit it is deeply auditory by nature in terms of learning and expression. Their path can also be one of vulnerability and struggle, and because it is such a personal journey it can also be quite lonely.

In it’s highest expression the 14/2 Channel of The Beat shows up as:
- Having the energy to sustain creative work
- Having a flair for innovative guidance
- Knowing how to use your work to empower others
- Having resources, commitment and ability to make things happen
- Power to generate wealth
Challenges of 14-2 Channel of The Beat
Challenges that you may face with the activated 14/2 Channel of The Beat include:
- Learning to surrender, let go and trust in life
- Finding work you love instead of feeling like a slave to your mission
- Chasing your destiny instead of trusting and allowing it arrive.
How does unconscious or conscious definition affect channels?
When channels are defined (coloured) they provide consistent, reliable communication between the two energy centres they connect in your chart.
- When channels are conscious (coloured black in traditional charts and orange if downloaded from this website), you are likely aware of how this energy plays out in your everyday life.
- When channels are unconscious (coloured red in traditional charts and purple if downloaded from this website), you may not have realised they were there unless pointed out by others. Or you may have thought that everyone felt that way.
If you have both colours it simply means that you have a mix of conscious and unconscious energy. And you may not have realised the full breadth of potential available to you or been able to articulate the gift within.
Reflective Questions for 14-2 Channel of The Beat
If you have the Channel of The Beat defined reflect on the following questions:
- What activities or experiences bring you joy and satisfaction? How often are you doing these? How can you do more of these?
- Where are you pushing for things in your life as opposed to allowing and trusting in life to unfold for you?
- What is your relationship with faith and life? Can you trust it? If not, why and what will you do about it?
- What is your relationship with work? Are you a slave to your mission or is your mission a labour of love?
- Are you using this energy to it’s full capacity? If not, what will you do differently?
Remember to have the Channel of The Beat activated in your Human Design Chart, both Gate 14 and Gate 2 must be defined.
If you only have one of these gates activated, it is called a hanging gate and you will likely find you naturally attract those who have the other Gate defined – also called the Harmonising Gate. Be sure to go check out each of these gates for further details on how their energies play out.
Lastly, if one of the gates of the defined channel sits in your Incarnation Cross you will find your life purpose is naturally generating energy all of the time. You are not waiting for the energy of the stars or others for your Cross to function or power up – the light is always on!
